How Insider Stock Trader gets its data, what it shows and what it doesn't do.

Where the data comes from

Every trade in the app comes from SEC Form 4 filings published on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's EDGAR system. Officers, directors and holders of more than 10% of a company's stock must file a Form 4, usually within two business days of a trade. These filings are public records.

We read EDGAR's own feed directly. We don't buy, scrape or resell data from third-party providers, and every trade links to the original filing on SEC.gov so you can check it yourself.

How fast

While EDGAR accepts filings (weekdays, 6:00 to 22:00 New York time), we check for new Form 4s about every minute. A new filing usually appears in the app within a minute or two of SEC publishing it. Each evening we also compare the day's results with SEC's complete daily index, so filings missed during an outage are filled in.

How we treat SEC fairly

SEC asks automated tools to identify themselves and to send no more than 10 requests per second. We send every request with a declared contact address and keep to at most 5 per second, and we pause automatically if SEC asks us to slow down.

What "signal strength" means

For open-market purchases only, we show a simple score from the insider's role (for example CEO or CFO), the size of the buy, how much it changes their stake, and whether other insiders of the same company are buying too. It is a way to sort the feed, not a prediction and not a recommendation.

How we check accuracy

Before launch, the way we read Form 4 filings was audited several times against SEC's own pages and data sets. That included hundreds of real filings, unusual cases such as amendments and joint filings, and live hours against EDGAR. Corrections (Form 4/A) are applied to the original trade rather than shown twice. If you spot a mistake, tell us at contact@callisto.ventures.

What the app is not

Your data

We keep only what the app needs to work: your account, your watchlist and alert settings, and your subscription status. Usage analytics are off unless you choose to allow them, and we don't use advertising IDs or show ads. Details are in the privacy policy, and you can delete your account at any time.
